About Jennifer Baccanello
Who I Am Outside of Homeschooling – Mom, Book Lover, Nature Walker
Jennifer Baccanello is a homeschooling, I’m a mom of three who loves books, long walks, and time away from screens. Our home is full of art materials, science kits, half-finished experiments, and shelves stacked with well-loved novels. It’s not minimalist or curated for social media—but it’s full of life, learning, and curiosity.
My guiding belief is simple: kids are not machines, and learning isn’t a race. When you slow down, listen, and give them space to lead, incredible things happen. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this—there is no one-size-fits-all way to educate a child. But there is a right way for your child. You just need the courage to discover it.
How I Got Started with Homeschooling and Why Traditional School Didn’t Work for Us
I didn’t begin this journey with a carefully crafted plan to homeschool my children. It started out of necessity. My oldest was struggling—dealing with anxiety and not getting the support he needed at school. Deep down, I felt there had to be a better way. So, I pulled him out, not knowing exactly what the future held, but certain that something had to change.
That was over ten years ago. Since then, I’ve been navigating this path through trial and error—reading, adapting, failing, and learning. What I’ve created isn’t some perfect, curated homeschooling setup. It’s a creative, flexible, real-life environment where my kids feel safe to explore, breathe, and just be themselves.
Supporting Other Homeschool Families Through Connection and Shared Resources
Community is a huge part of how I show up in this work. I know how isolating homeschooling can feel, especially in the early days. That’s why I prioritize building real, supportive connections. I organize group meetups, host resource-sharing workshops, and create space for parents to talk and swap ideas.
There’s no gatekeeping in my world. No polished personas or unspoken rules. Just genuine, compassionate support from one parent to another.
My Philosophy on Homeschooling and Child-Centered Learning at Home
I use a blended approach to education—drawing from Montessori principles, project-based learning, nature exploration, quiet reflection, and lots and lots of books. There’s no rigid schedule or standardized curriculum here. Some days are high-energy and hands-on; others are slow and introspective. We make room for emotions, tough days, and all the beautiful chaos that comes with being a human, not a number.
What I care about most is how my kids feel while they learn. Are they curious? Do they feel emotionally safe? Do they know their voices matter? I’ve seen that when kids feel emotionally supported, their natural love of learning shines through. That’s why our homeschooling routine includes mental check-ins, journaling, and open conversations about their inner world.
Over the years, I’ve become a trusted voice in my local homeschooling community—not because I have all the answers, but because I’m honest. I help other parents cut through the overwhelm, figure out a rhythm that actually fits their family, and drop the pressure to homeschool “perfectly.”
